I wish I had data on active user bases for all 3 services and how many users rate beer at least, say, once per week. If you need to add a new beer that is not yet in the database, hit the ADD BEER button in the top left corner and add the details. These will automatically display in alphabetical order (Name A-Z). After all, over at r/beeritforward, often requirements are placed on beers like "Must be 85+ on BA." So clearly the gold standard for beer ratings is BA.īut should it be? Yet I feel like BeerAdvocate ratings are taken very seriously. For our data set, the average person spends 42.93 at a brewery. The average Untappd rating from our study is 3.71.
In our study, the difference between the highest (4.43) and lowest (2.47) rated brewery is 1.96.
But I realized that I think in terms of Untapped ratings. Untappd uses the following formula to determine a brewery’s rating. When someone asked me "How was it?" I replied "I'd give it 4 bottle caps." Now, I meant this half seriously, at least saying the "bottle caps" part.
